Concept art | 3D
VCCP reached out to me with a brief to create a generic European street as a digital matte painting. A location shoot had been originally planned but due to the first coronavirus lockdown was no longer possible.
Over a series of zoom calls, we built a virtual location entirely in 3D. This gave the creatives full control over the positions of buildings, architecture, lighting, camera angles, etc. It could then be relit as desired for a nighttime option.
Behind the Scenes
Open street map data was brought into Maya to block the scene out with simple shapes allowing us to quickly explore a series of street layouts. The scene was then brought to life using high-resolution 3D models from libraries such as Evermotion, Kitbash3D and Megascans.
Final Campaign Images
The street image was used for a variety of online advertising.
